FAQ
How many days do I need in Xi'an?
Three days is the sweet spot for most first-time visitors. Day 1: Terracotta Warriors + Huaqing. Day 2: City Wall + Shaanxi Museum + Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Day 3: Han Yangling or Daming Palace + shopping. Add a 4th day for Mount Huashan. One day is possible but rushed — you will only see the Warriors and City Wall.
Is the 1-day itinerary realistic?
It is packed but doable if you start by 7:30 AM. You will see the Terracotta Warriors (3 hours), Huaqing Hot Springs (1.5 hours), City Wall at sunset (2 hours), and Muslim Quarter for dinner. Budget $60-$75 per person. You will miss the museums, pagoda, and other attractions — come back for more if possible.
Should I add Mount Huashan?
If you have 4+ days and reasonable fitness, absolutely. It is one of China's Five Great Mountains and the most dramatic hike available as a day trip from Xi'an. The Plank Walk is unforgettable. If you only have 2-3 days, skip it and focus on the city's historical attractions.
What is the total budget for a 3-day trip?
$180-$220 per person including: all attraction tickets ($60), meals ($45-$60), 2 nights mid-range accommodation ($60-$90), and local transport ($15-$30). Flights/trains to Xi'an are not included. See our tickets page for a full price breakdown.
